How to Kill Scout Striders
Amongst the many challenging foes you’ll face in Helldivers 2, Scout Striders stand out as swift, heavily armed patrol units that can quickly get out of control if not dealt with properly. The pesky bots are part of Automatons, which are known for their long-range and thick armor plating.
Scout Striders are light enemy mechs that patrol the battlefield and are one of the more common species players will encounter. Though Scout Striders are hard to beat, there is one weakness to them that players need to know in order to topple them successfully. Hence, we’ve put together a guide explaining how to kill Scout Striders in Hell Divers 2.
Deafeating Scout Striders in Helldivers 2
Standing on two long, slender legs (not like Bile Spewers), Scout Striders can quickly navigate rugged terrain and cover a lot of ground. They generally shoot rapidly and rely on long laser cannons, so outrunning typically doesn’t work against them.
The most challenging part of facing Helldivers 2‘s Scout Striders is that they appear in large numbers, which can be tricky to deal with. Furthermore, the thick plating of armor on their front part means blasting them away right away is a failing tactic.
While they boast several troublesome elements, Scout Striders are vulnerable from the back. Basically, there is no armor at the back, so your best bet would be to flank them from behind. You can either be sneaky and get behind them or use a jetpack to do the same.
Once behind, use your primary or secondary weapon to blast the exposed pilot. Alternatively, you can also use grenades or other explosives to destroy the bots from afar. However, this strategy isn’t fruitful in the game’s later stages as Scout Striders will have enhanced features.
Arrowhead Game Studios has also recently upgraded the bots, giving them completely enclosed bodies. In that case, you’ll have to look for cover and carefully use weapons like Autocannon to tackle the foes.
Where are Scout Striders in Helldivers 2?
Finding Scout Striders in Helldivers 2 shouldn’t be a tall task. As you progress to more difficult missions, especially in enemy-controlled zones, Scout Striders become a regular part of the enemy forces.
If venturing into any planet in the Automation sector, you will often come across Scout Striders. Playing on a medium difficulty level or higher will ensure the encounter is nearly guaranteed. These mech bots can also appear as reinforcement when facing an enemy of a different species.
As mentioned before, Scout Striders will come with enhancements in higher difficulties, so don’t take them lightly. They come in large numbers, and if you get too close to them, death is inevitable. Ensure you are fully prepared and aware of their fighting pattern to avoid any casualty.
