How To Solve the Bookshelf Puzzle in the Lakeview Hotel

The Silent Hill 2 Remake has finally hit store shelves after being announced two years ago, and the wait was worth it. The game developers of Bloober Team captured everything great about the original video game that came out decades ago and dialed everything to an eleven with whatever modern technology has to offer.

This project is an authentic remake, and players will take on the role of James in search of his late wife in the eerie town of Silent Hill. Aside from fighting countless monsters lurking around, players must solve a handful of puzzles to advance the story.

Where to Find the Bookshelf Puzzle in the Silent Hill 2 Remake?

Bloober Team wanted the players to feel the tension roaming around the town of Silent Hill as James fought to survive against threats of all manners and look for answers. Eventually, players will come across the Lakeview Hotel and make their way up to the second floor with a bookshelf puzzle.

Once players gain access to the Reading Room, James must find four books: Stalwart to the End, Pride Before the Fall, Revelations: A New Understanding, and The One Who Soared, and put them in the right order on the shelf. While the puzzle is not as complicated as the Blue Creeks Apartments Moth Puzzle, it can still get confusing depending on the difficulty selected.

James can start solving the puzzle after entering the Reading Room and collecting the required books. Players can spot a few clues scattered around the room that can help them solve the bookshelf puzzle.

How to Solve the Bookshelf Puzzle in Silent Hill 2?

James can spot an odd painting on the other side of the room that seems to be a gladiator arena or colosseum of a man pinned in the center with a few spears surrounded by a man with wings, a lion, a bull, and an eagle. These are hints of where James should slot each book in the empty shelf.

Each book has an emblem on the spine and must be placed accurately to get through the hidden area. Players must look at the image upside down for a proper viewing angle since the spears are going down on the man for James to know the right order.

The eagle emblem is on The One Who Soared and should be placed on the upper right while the Pride Before the Fall is directly below it with the lion emblem. Revelations: A New Understanding should be on the upper left with the man with wings leaving the bull emblem on the bottom left which is the Stalwart to the End book.

After solving the puzzle, the bookshelf will move out of the way leading to a new area. The bookshelf is blocking the way to an unnamed room holding a locked briefcase, a mirror, and a broken bulb.

Puzzles like these have perks such as encouraging players to think outside the box and assess the situation logically. The Bookshelf puzzle on the second floor of the Lakeview Hotel is not the hardest in the game but can be a challenge if players fail to pay attention and look for the necessary clues.
