How to stop Griffins from flying away in Dragon’s Dogma 2
I enjoy almost every aspect of Dragon’s Dogma 2. The size and scope of the world truly make me feel like I’m going on a Lord of the Rings adventure. However, fighting the large creatures makes the clunky combat style even more difficult. There was a point where I was getting frustrated at the game because a Griffin kept on flying away and surviving due to my slow strikes. I did manage to bring the creature down though. To learn how to stop Griffins from flying away in Dragon’s Dogma 2, I suggest you read this guide.
The flying beast is just as hard as the Drake, but for me, the Griffin was a nightmare to keep down. It became a problem because every time my party would do devastating damage, it would flee. Sometimes the Griffin would come back healed up, other times it would appear with the same health but angrier. After that, I became its rag doll.
To avoid all that, you can’t face the Griffin head-on, or at least that’s what I felt I couldn’t do. But I think I found a way, a consistent way to keep this creature from leaving and coming back stronger. First, I would suggest you either find a stronger weapon based on your class or buy from any major city or town. Next, employ a Mage Pawn. If you already have one, then don’t worry about this step.
Lastly, since the fight is a heavy one, make sure you’ve got potions to keep your health and stamina up. You’ll be dashing and getting hit often. The longer you last in a fight, the better.
Once you have everything and a Mage, head out and find the creature. When you find one that’s about to attack, go after the wings first. I did notice for other larger monsters, if you attack certain parts of them, you’ll do more damage afterward. This rule applies to the Griffin. When the Griffin is close by, your Mage should start attacking it. To help the Mage be more effective, you and the other party members should land heavy blows till it crashes into a wall allowing the Mage to burn certain things off like its wings. When the wings are gone, the Griffin can’t fly away.
While the creature is grounded, the fight doesn’t get any easier. My advice here would be to throw large boulders at it as well as hit it with any heavy attacks. Your Pawns should follow your lead on this part. Mixing these two mechanics can take the Griffin’s health down in chucks.
If all goes well, the Griffin should go down with ease.
While a strong weapon is best suited against a Griffin, it’s easier to buy them than to find one. This guide should help you locate all the weapon vendors in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
