Tournament Prize Pool

Everyone loves a good competitive tournament prize pool. With Counter-Strike being one of the biggest esports out there, we constantly are seeing tournaments every few months for the game with massive prize pools.

Well, the IEM Rio 2024 tournament is no exception. The tournament has a massive $250,000 prize pool, with the winner qualifying for IEM Katowice 2025.

Here is an official breakdown of the tournament prize pool:

• 1st: $100,000
• 2nd: $42,000
• 3rd-4th: $20,000
• 5th-6th: $10,000
• 7th-8th: $6,000
• 9th-12th: $5,000
• 13th-16h: $4,000

Tournament Format and Structure

Similar to other Counter-Strike 2 events, the IEM Rio 2024 tournament has a pretty standard format and structure.

• Group Stage:
  • Two double-elimination format groups.
    • Each group is made up of eight teams.
    • Opening matches are best-of-one.
    • All following matches are best-of-three.
  • The top three teams from each group advance to the Playoffs.
    • Group stage winners advance to the Semifinals
    • Group stage runners-up advance to the Quarterfinals as the High Seeds.
    • Group stage third-place teams advance to the Quarterfinals as the Low Seeds.
• Playoffs:
  • Single-elimination bracket.
  • All matches are best-of-three.

• Grand Finals:
  • All matches are best-of-five.

Tournament Dates

So, when exactly is the IEM Rio 2024 tournament? The entire event takes place in Rio de Janeiro from October 7 to October 13, 2024. The event will be held at Farmasi Arena for the Playoffs and Grand Finals.

The event is being organized by ESL and is sponsored by Intel, Monster Energy and 1xBet.
