If you’re not doing this, experts say your pipes could burst during winter storm
Plumbing and damage restoration companies are preparing for a busy week as another winter storm moves Georgia.
They’re expecting pipes to burst and leave damage behind, so they’re urging homeowners to take precautions early.
Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Brad Nitz says temperatures are expected to remain near or below freezing for the next several days.

Owners told Channel 2 Cobb County Bureau Chief Michele Newell that lots of homeowners are buying pipe insulation thinking it’s all they need, but say pipes could still freeze.
Even if you use pipe insulation, Boyd says you still need to let the faucet drip and keep cabinets open.
“If you are not doing those other things and only putting this on, there’s a good chance your pipe is going to freeze still,” David Cunningham, Service Manager for Superior Plumbing, said.

“We come in, we have to get the flooring down. We have to take care all of the debris get it outside,” Boyd said. “We have been trying to send out tips to help prevent some of this stuff.”
If you don’t do the preventative work and end up with water damage, getting teams in quickly is key.
“The faster we get there on site the faster we can dry it up and stop the less damage,” Boyd said.
