IN PICTURES: McDonald’s Albany celebrates McHappy Day, raising $1257 for Ronald McDonald House Charities
Customers at McDonald’s Albany were charitably minded as they picked up their coffees and burgers on Saturday, dropping more than $1200 in donation buckets for McHappy Day.
The Albany Highway store contributed $1257 to the nationwide annual fundraiser, with the money supporting families of seriously ill or injured children via Ronald McDonald House Charities.
McDonald’s Albany department manager Zente Wolfenden-Inwood said this was his fourth year organising the fundraiser for the store.

“It all went pretty well this year I think,” he said.
“We had visits from the SES, ambulance officers and police, which was nice.
“A lot of people were happy to donate, though it is tough as lots of customers are cashless and only using their cards.
“It’s so important to donate because everything goes towards helping kids and families with hospital costs, travel costs and a whole range of other stuff.
“There were quite a few visitors who have used (Ronald) McDonald House themselves so it was nice to speak to them.”

Member for Albany Rebecca Stephens did her part behind the counter, donning a red apron and building burgers.
“I know first-hand how important Ronald McDonald House is to regional families seeking health care for their children in Perth,” she said.
“My family has been greatly supported by Ronald McDonald House, so helping out at McHappy Day is the least I can do to give back to a wonderful cause that provides so much assistance to Albany families in need.”
McHappy Day has counted $142,645 raised so far nationwide.
