Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Will Let You Use a Controversial Device None of the Harrison Ford Movies Dared to Feature

The game was confirmed several years ago, with the gameplay being showcased earlier in 2024. While players can’t wait to get their hands on the game, there’s a controversial aspect of the game that hardcore fans of the franchise can’t comprehend and hope is completely axed before the release!

Gamers Aren’t Happy About Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Featuring a Camera

All the recent trailers for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle have confirmed a wide variety of gameplay features and aspects. One of these is the inclusion of a camera device. It’s supposed to be a player-driven tool that can be taken out to snap a photo and learn more about the world around them to solve hidden puzzles and adventure around.

Sure, it’s a helpful addition that will undoubtedly elevate the treasure hunter experience, but it simply feels out of place. According to the developers, the reason for the introduction of a camera in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was because of the Adventures of Young Indiana Jones series.

If you’re unaware, in this particular series, Indy used a camera-like device since he was an aerial reconnaissance photographer during World War 1. The developers wanted to leverage this aspect of the character and bring utility items into the upcoming game without breaking his character.

However, for years, fans have not considered The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones a canon series. It’s notorious for its inconsistencies with the mainline films. While it gives a look at Indy’s early life, some aspects conflict with what has already been established in the movies.

Bethesda and LucasFilm have constantly emphasized that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is catered to the hardcore fans of the franchise, and that’s exactly why it ties in with the mainline movies. However, the inclusion of a camera has frustrated gamers since it was never featured in the films.

The developers should’ve evaluated what the gamers had been demanding for years with an Indiana Jones game, and not bring in aspects from a series that everyone absolutely despises. With the game a few months away, the developers still have a chance to fix their mistakes and get rid of such aspects.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is Not an Xbox Console Exclusive

Microsoft owns both Bethesda and MachineGames. So, it’s no surprise that the game was initially revealed as an Xbox-exclusive title. It’s already confirmed that it will debut on Xbox Game Pass on day one. Now, we also know that PlayStation gamers will be able to experience the title as well!

One of the major announcements at the recent Gamescom 2024 was the reveal that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be a multi-platform title.

However, the game will be timed to the Microsoft console for a certain duration. It’s all set to release on December 9th, 2024, for Xbox Series S/X and PC, while those on PS5 will have to wait till 2025 to play the title.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle isn’t the first Xbox title that’s making a jump to PS5. Earlier this year, Xbox started with its multi-platform strategy, bringing various titles to rival platforms. This included games such as Grounded and Sea of Thieves but excluded major ones like Halo, Starfield, Forza, and Gears of Wars.

There are rumors that, eventually, Xbox’s biggest IPs will make it to Xbox at some point down the tile, but nothing is confirmed as of now.
