Indus picks up five million downloads and concludes first international playtest in Manila
- Indus Battle Royale, the made-in-India shooter, has accrued over five million downloads
- It follows a successful international playtest in Manila, and winning a Google Play Award
- Now, SuperGaming has ambitions for esports with their Clutch India Movement
A mere two months after launch, made-in-India battle royale shooter Indus has already picked up over five million downloads on Android and over 100,000 on iOS. That’s on top of winning Google Play’s Best Made in India Game 2024 award and recently concluding their first international playtest in Manila.
It’s a major bump for Indus, especially with developer SuperGaming’s ambition to make this shooter the face of Indian gaming, ahead of competitors like FAU-G: Domination. Indus also recently concluded its first major international playtest at the YGG Play Summit in Manila, where local esports stars got the chance to go hands-on with the battle royale.
On top of that, SuperGaming has also recently launched its Clutch India Movement, a major drive into esports that starts with the Indus International Tournament. Already in the running since October this year, it’s set to conclude in February 2025, with a prize pool of INR 2.5 crores (aproximately $31k) on the line.
Big milestone, but more to come
While admittedly impressive, the 5m downloads that Indus has accrued are still a bit shy of the 10m pre-registrations they initially had, although it should be noted that pre-registration numbers rarely translate fully to downloads. The mere 100,000 on iOS does signal they haven’t quite cracked that segment of the Indian player base either.
But, that aside this is still impressive, and the decision to quickly move forward with international playtests, run an esports tournament and more all seem to indicate that SuperGaming has huge ambitions for how Indus will develop.
