Metacritic says Dynasty Warriors Origins is the highest-rated game in the franchise’s history—an impressive feat. Whether you agree is one thing, but there’s no mistaking the effort in the 2025 release. It’s a historic game that’s as modern as ever and places a large emphasis on its story and the driving force of its narrative.

But fans are questioning the state of online multiplayer and co-op in Dynasty Warriors Origins. We’ve got all the answers you need down below.

Does Dynasty Warriors Origins Have Online Multiplayer?

There is no online multiplayer in Dynasty Warriors Origins: PvP or PvE.

Unlike Dynasty Warriors 7 and 8, Origins features no online multiplayer to let you team up with anyone. The inclusive nature of previous stories allowed you to partner up with a friend, but Origins opts against this.

Does Dynasty Warriors Origins Have Local Co-op?

Dynasty Warriors Origins doesn’t even have local co-op to savor the action with someone on the same screen.

Omega Force has tried to keep Origins as a strictly solo affair to localize the action to you only. It gives you more chance of absorbing the story and not missing a second or narrative tick being distracted by the presence of someone else with you.

Again, recent Dynasty Warriors titles have had online co-op at least. Many players are understandably going to be disappointed Origins is single-player-only and doesn’t let you play in tandem with a teammate.

Will Dynasty Warriors Origins Add Multiplayer or Co-op?

I don’t think Dynasty Warriors Origins will add a multiplayer option at any point now.

Believe me, I’ve done my journalistic duties and dug deep to try and find anything about multiplayer or co-op. Nothing comes up to suggest it’s happening. If you look on the Dynasty Warriors Origins site under “Player,” it simply says “1.”

It might be a one-off design choice for Omega Force. Depending on the feedback due to a lack of multiplayer, they might implement it in a future content update. For now, enjoy Origins in its single-player form, and hope the feature makes a welcome in a presumed Dynasty Warriors sequel.
