Israel and Hezbollah continue to trade aerial attacks

The Israeli Air Force has attacked several weapons factories and infrastructure belonging to the Lebanese Hezbollah militia in a southern suburb of Beirut, according to the military.

The attacks were carried out with the help of intelligence information, according to a statement from the army. Steps were taken to minimize harm to civilians, it said.

There were initially no reports of casualties from the Monday evening attacks.

It comes after Israeli ground troops advanced into southern Lebanon in a “limited, localized” operation against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon overnight, according to the army.

The Israeli ground incursion dubbed Northern Arrows is the first since the Lebanon war in 2006.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah continued its attacks on northern Israel, firing several missiles at the area around the border town of Metulla and the town of Avivim, according to the Israeli army.

Some projectiles were intercepted by the missile defence system, others hit the ground, some in open areas, it said.

Israeli news site ynet reported of 15 projectiles. Hezbollah claimed responsibilty for the attacks on Metulla, saying it had targeted groups of soldiers.
