Iwankiw on target in hard-fought point score event
Matt Iwankiw carded a score of 66 out of 75 to lead the 25-target point score field at the Eastern Goldfields Clay Target Club’s recent competition.
In tricky conditions, Iwankiw showed the way from C-grade leader Sue Kamo (64), Marty Miles (63) and Matt Priest (61).
The 2024 club handicap championship went to Murray Kamo (41/50) from Priest (39) and Miles (36), with Iwankiw and Sue Kamo tied on 34.
Last Saturday’s open day was highly successful and showcased trap, skeet and five-stand sporting clay applications.
“A great day was had by all and was a great boost for a sport that is facing big challenges with the new gun laws,” club spokesman Mark Normington said.
Local members are gearing up for the State trap and skeet carnivals, starting on September 21.
As part of those preparations, Geraldton will host the annual crayfish carnival the weekend before.
