Kansas City mother speaks on her car being stolen from hotel valet
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One woman says her car was stolen while in valet, and she’s received little help from both the hotel and police.
It happened this past weekend at the Westin. For the last eight years, it’s been a familiar place for this mother, but now, she’s without a car.
“I made it to 50 and never had a car stolen, never had a car stolen from me and now at 50 I’m like wow,” Gina Hubbell said.

Hubbell is now part of a club that no one wants to be in.
“I gave the keys to the valet I said, ‘My car stays up here don’t forget that,’ and he says ‘Yes ma’am.’ I said, ‘It doesn’t go to the garage,’ and he said, ‘Yes ma’am.’ He said, ‘Yes, I know. ‘It’s noted on your account,’” she explained.
At some point, the note he referred to was disregarded and her 2020 Dodge Durango SRT wide body was indeed parked in the garage.
Hubbell also claims staff at the hotel didn’t inform her the car was gone for five hours.
“I looked at the manager of the valet service and I said, ‘At what point did you think it was ok to call me? Never, it’s not our policy,’” she said.
Since the theft, Hubbell has filed a police report and posted the vehicle in Stolen KC, a group on Facebook. The car was seen multiple times and even tracked with a GPS tracker.
Hubbell says police told her they could not retrieve it from that location because it was on private property.

Now, the mother of two is left without a car and few answers. As the thieves joyride the streets of Kansas City.
“It’s not yours you didn’t earn it,” Hubbell said.
“You stole it no matter which way you cut it you’re a thief.”
FOX4 went to the Westin and spoke with their head of security, who said the valet is run by a third party and the parking garage is overseen by Crown Center. He said he would get back to us with more answers, but at the time of this report, we haven’t heard any further updates.
As far as KCPD FOX4 reached out and is waiting to hear back.
