Kill the Justice League Players

MultiVersus seems to be the latest video game coming back after being pulled from online stores in June 2023. The relaunch has WB Games indulging in marketing all over again, and fans on social media are reacting to news regarding the game.

The game is a crossover 2-D fighting game that features characters from different IPs owned by Warner Bros. However, even after Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League, it seems like WB Games hasn’t learned its lesson and will be sabotaging its game again.

Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League is almost dead and buried, with its player retention numbers falling and fans expressing displeasure on social media. MultiVersus will be the next game from WB Games to suffer a similar fate. Although marketed as a free-to-play crossover fighting game, the latter has a repulsive pay-to-play model.

This was touched upon by an individual on X, who talked about how there were 26 entire rosters available at the launch but with an ugly caveat:

As expected, fans were not okay, let alone impressed, with the model of the game, which seemed incredibly exploitative for consumers:

The reason for this is simple: until the next refresh, gamers would be stuck with the same four characters plus the permanent one. This is incredibly disappointing for players waiting to play as their favorite character.

Usually, new characters and operators are unlocked behind a paywall, but letting players access only five random characters, which makes for a meager 20% of the entire roster, is ludicrous.

Gamers weren’t very impressed with the standards WB Games set with its latest DC video game, whether it was how the game treated members of the League or the incredibly nonsensical plot and utterly bizarre plot twists.

However, even the Battle Pass and microtransactions in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League were much better than the model presented to players in a game branded ‘free-to-play.’ If one were to put that aside and consider that the game still offers you the ability to grind through and then unlock new characters, there are still problems in the game that didn’t exist during the beta.

A Redditor highlighted this as per whom the game’s relaunch feels even more unpolished than the Beta:

One of the most vital points made by the individual was the camera angle change and the inability to customize it. Also, removing color-based indicators and not allowing players to use locked characters in the practice range seems nefarious.

What do you think of the game’s pricing and battle pass strategy? Do you think it will be able to overshadow all of this through its gameplay? We would love to know your thoughts in the comments section below!
