Kindle Colorsoft Ereader Gets First Major Discount At Amazon
Amazon’s recently released Kindle Colorsoft is on sale for a substantial discount for the first time since its release last October. For a limited time, you can get Amazon’s first full-color e-ink tablet for $230, down from $280. The Prime-exclusive discount gets even better if you have an eligible trade-in device. If you trade-in an old device–it doesn’t need to be a Kindle–you’ll save an additional 20%.
If you want to take notes on your Kindle, Amazon has preowned Kindle Scribe ereaders in like-new condition for as low as $234. You can also secure steep discounts on Kindle Fire HD tablets.
$230 (was $280) | Extra 20% off with trade-in
The Kindle Colorsoft has a 7-inch full-color display, eight weeks of battery life, and a front light that automatically adjusts to your surroundings. If you enjoy saving passages in books, the Colorsoft has the added benefit of letting you highlight text in color, making it easier than ever to organize important sentences you want to return to later.
Other notable features of the Colorsoft include support for wireless charging, no ads on the lock screen, and 32GB of storage. If you like reading by the pool or relaxing in the bath, the Colorsoft ereader is waterproof and carries an IPX8 water resistance rating, which means it can be fully submerged in water at a depth of 6.5 feet for up to 60 minutes.
The biggest reason to pick up the Colorsoft is if you’re interested in making the jump to digital comic books and graphic novels. Its color display is leagues better for the format than black and white ereaders like the standard Kindle–and at $230, it’s easier to recommend.
As mentioned, you can save even more with an eligible trade-in item. You’ll automatically save an additional 20%, even if you send Amazon a cheap device like a Fire Stick. The 20% is calculated from the sale price, so in this case, you’ll save an extra $46 simply for trading in any eligible device. At the moment, that means the Colorsoft’s price drops to $184.
The $184 price doesn’t account for the value of the device you choose to send to Amazon. A Fire Stick is only worth a few bucks, but higher-end devices can be worth significantly more. The Kindle Scribe 16GB model, for example, is worth $85.
16GB – $234 (was $310) | 32GB – $260 (was $325)
Speaking of the Kindle Scribe, the hybrid ereader and note-taking e-ink tablet is also on sale right now. The Scribe has a 10.2-inch Paperwhite touchscreen with 300 ppi (pixels per inch).
This particular model comes with Amazon’s Premium Pen, which has a built-in eraser and shortcut button that come in handy when writing and drawing.
The 32GB model is $260 (was $325) and the 16GB model is $234 (was $310). Note that both of these are preowned but have Like-New grades. Amazon has already sold over 65% of its 32GB Scribe stock, and the 16GB deal jumped from 1% claimed to 15% in about 30 minutes. If interested, you won’t want to wait too long to snag one.
If you’re looking for a standard Android tablet experience, the Fire HD 10 is just $95 (was $140) and the Fire HD 8 is $65 (was $100). The former gets you a 10.1-inch display with a 1080p resolution, while the latter is smaller at 8 inches and 1280 x 800 resolution. Amazon’s Fire 7 Kids tablet is discounted to $70 (was $110) and comes with a full year of Amazon Kids+, which is normally $6/month or $48/year. Amazon Kids+ features thousands of games, shows, books, and more.
Amazon also has bundle deals on its high-end Fire Max 11 tablet. The Fire Max 11 Productivity Bundle includes the official keyboard case with a trackpad and Amazon’s stylus for $75 off, dropping the price to as low as $280.
Just like the Kindle Colorsoft, all of Amazon’s ereaders and Fire tablets are eligible for the 20% trade-in bonus.
