Kiwis bat first in final Aussie World Cup hit-out

New Zealand will bat first in Brisbane as they seek a drought-breaking Twenty20 win against Australia just hours before flying to Dubai ahead of the women’s World Cup.

The Kiwis have lost nine straight matches in the format, including the first two in this series against the hosts in Mackay.

Both sides will head to the UAE tomorrow to prepare for next month’s showpiece, Sophie Devine winning the toss and opting to bat as New Zealand seek a change of fortune at Allan Border Field.

Defending T20 champions Australia have made one change, fast bowler Tayla Vlaeminck back in the side for the rotated Darcie Brown.

New Zealand, beaten by five wickets and 29 runs in the opening two games, have made two changes.

Hannah Rowe and Rosemary Mair are in for Lea Tahuhu and Molly Penfold.

AUSTRALIA: Alyssa Healy (c), Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, Ashleigh Gardner, Phoebe Litchfield, Tahlia McGrath, Georgia Wareham, Annabel Sutherland, Sophie Molineux, Tayla Vlaeminck, Megan Schutt.

NEW ZEALAND: Suzie Bates, Georgia Plimmer, Amelia Kerr, Sophie Devine (c), Brooke Halliday, Maddy Green, Izzy Gaze (wk), Hannah Rowe, Rosemary Mair, Eden Carson, Fran Jonas.
