Latest Figures Indicate PS5 Players Can’t Get Enough of Black Ops 6 Despite Xbox Game Pass Day 1 Release Backlash
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has just been released. After completing the Modern Warfare trilogy, Activision is now looking to revive its Black Ops series. The last game in the series, Black Ops Cold War, didn’t get a proper reception from the fans, which is why all the honors lay on the shoulders of the recently launched title.
However, things are not going very well for BO6, as the game is heavily criticized for the new movement mechanics and launch maps. Still, the game got a huge reception from both the PlayStation and Xbox players. The reason for this success on Xbox is quite understandable, but after blasting the game, why PlayStation players still jumped into the game might be the biggest mystery in the universe.
More Than Half of the Total Xbox X/S Players Played Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
After the game’s release, the main talking point was its Omni-movement, which supposedly killed the familiar Call of Duty vibe. Not only that, the 16 launch maps were also heavily criticized, along with the inconsistent TTK/TTD of the game. However, none of these weren’t able to let down the huge success of the game on both console giants.
CEO Satya Nadella confirmed during Microsoft’s most recent earnings call that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has set new franchise records and has been dubbed the “biggest” Call of Duty game to date. According to an analysis by Circana CEO and analyst Mat Piscatella (via Bluesky), Black Ops 6 has managed to grasp the attention of “one out of every two Xbox Series S/X players.”
On October 23, 19% of US active Xbox Series players launched Call of Duty HQ, according to Circana’s Player Engagement Tracker. 52% of active Xbox players did so on October 28. This was an all-time high for Call of Duty HQ.
One-third of the Active PlayStation Users Checked Out Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
This is a huge achievement on Xbox, keeping in mind all the harsh criticisms the game was facing, but there’s a catch. Black Ops 6 is the first ever Call of Duty game to be launched on day 1 on the Xbox Game Pass. So, it was quite understandable.
Because of this reason, PlayStation players initially blasted and trolled the game as it was not available on PS Plus and they would have to buy this game to enjoy it on their platform. But the astonishing fact is that they did buy the game, even after criticizing the game every single bit.
According to the same report, 18% of US active PlayStation 5 players and 34% of active PS5 players launched Call of Duty HQ on October 23 and October 28, respectively, which is also an all-time high on the platform.
This proves PlayStation users’ unnecessary trolling towards the game, in which they would be going to stick their heads later on.
