Latest Rumor Reveals Ubisoft’s Last-Ditch Effort Includes Betting It All on Their Top Multiplayer Franchise to Stay Afloat

When you talk about tactical multiplayer shooters, you can never go past Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege from Ubisoft. This game has been a long-standing asset of the company in the multiplayer gaming territory. This game serves as the successor to Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6: Patriots.

After almost a decade of its release, now it seems it’s time for a sequel to Rainbox Six Siege as well. However, there hasn’t been any confirmation or even a hint from Ubisoft about it. But there is a certain claim from a credible leaker that is making fans dream once again.

Ubisoft is Rumored to Be Working on a New Multiplayer Game

Recently, credible Rainbow Six leaker and modder Shinny revealed on Twitter that Ubisoft is currently working on a new game. He also stated that the name of the new game is going to be “Rainbow Six Atom“.

So, it’s a no-brainer that the upcoming title is going to be the successor of Rainbow Six Siege. However, this is just a stage name of the project and will be changed later, so we are yet to know about the exact name of the game.

The leaker had already posted a cryptic tweet yesterday, advising everyone to be ready for tomorrow, which means on September 30. Everyone thought it might be an indicator of Ubisoft officially announcing the title.

This thinking also made sense as Ubisoft had just canceled its Tokyo Game Show presentations. However, later on it was found out that it was the leaker who would go on to reveal the name of the game instead of any official announcement from the company.

The current time period doesn’t seem to be too favorable for Ubisoft. Recently, the long-hailed game development and publishing company had to delay the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows to 2025. The game has been facing a lot of criticism lately due to the inclusion of a black Samurai.

This decision might become fatal for the company as the closest competitor of Shadows, Ghost of Yotei, is releasing in 2025 too. The step of delaying the game came after the company’s acknowledgment of Star War Outlaws‘s underperformance. In a recently held trading call update, company CEO Yves Guillemot stated about the recent sales:

It mostly reflects the softer-than-expected sales for Star Wars Outlaws. We also had behind expectations for XDefiant, which we will give you a bit more detail at the end of October. To a much lesser extent, with a limited impact was a lower expectation for XDefiant.

Being a PvP shooter, XDefiant failed miserably to put its publishing company back on track in the multiplayer gaming sector. Now, to revive its dominance, the company must take a solid step. And Rainbow Six Atom might be the beginning of it.
