Lionsgate officially announces Orphan 3
It seems like the iconic Estonian serial killer will be wreaking havoc once again.
Movieweb reports that Esther will be back for a third movie in the Orphan franchise. A prequel titled Orphan: First Killer came out in 2022 and provided a more detailed look into the childlike serial killer’s backstory.
Lionsgate has confirmed it’s greenlighting Orphan 3 and Isabelle Fuhrman will return to play the ruthless serial killer Esther. William Brent Bell, who directed Orphan: First Kill will also make his comeback for the third installment. David Coggeshall, the prequel’s screenwriter, will carry out the same role for the next movie. The film announcement was revealed by Co-Ceo of Dark Castle Entertainment and producer of Orphan 3, Norman Golightly, under the Dark Castle banner alongside Lionsgate. Currently, details of the plot are still unknown.
Golightly expressed that Dark Castle is happy to announce the third movie in the Orphan franchise. The producer continued stating that since the first two movies were proven to be successful alongside an exhilarating story for the upcoming film, there’s confidence that the third installment will be a film everyone ranging from current fans and newcomers will be looking forward to watching.
Despite the first movie being released 15 years ago, it’s surprising to see the psychological horror franchise still continues to flesh out more content. Anything to see Esther carrying out her murderous schemes is always a plus.
