Lollipop Chainsaw Remake Fans Surprisingly Against PS4 Announcement From Yoshimi Yasuda
When the Lollipop Chainsaw remake was first announced, it was one of the most bizarre things to come out of this year so far. Not to say it’s unwelcome, but quite the opposite; it’s just unexpected.
There’s a lot of excitement surrounding it, but it’s also stirred up quite the conversation as Dragami Games’ CEO addresses the matter of its release on certain platforms. While some people want the game on older platforms, others are hell-bent on making sure it doesn’t happen.
Lollipop Chainsaw Remake Will Only Release on New Gen Platforms
The remake of the 2012 hack-and-slash classic, featuring the iconic cheerleader Juliet Starling slashing her way through hordes of zombies, is set to release in September on Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
A portion of the fanbase feels left out, hoping for a PS4 and even Xbox One release. Not everyone feels the same, and there’s strong opposition from some current-gen console users who are against the idea.
Since the official announcement of RePOP, we have received many requests from game users asking for it to be released on PS4.
We want to meet the requests of game users. Please wait for an announcement as soon as the schedule is finalized.… pic.twitter.com/PSp91SKs0H— 安田善巳 Yoshimi Yasuda (@yasudaD5) July 26, 2024
Dragami Games CEO Yoshimi Yasuda recently tweeted, acknowledging the fans who want a release on the previous PlayStation generation.
He says to wait for further news on the topic once the current release roadmap is over, so there might be hope for people on this console.
As a person who will buy a new copy, not someone who will request a low spec version and then only it buy it from a second hand shop, I kindly ask for the development team to focus on current spec version please.
Please focus on current spec.
Thank you.

The tweet was immediately met with angry replies from players, urging developers to concentrate on optimizing the game for the current generation instead of catering to older consoles.
Please only release it on PS5 and XBSX/PC, Do you not want old systems hoping new Do you not want old systems holding new technology back

One person sarcastically comments about releasing it for the Nintendo 64 and Dreamcast, even if the developers are willing to drop it on the PlayStation 4.
Hell yeah dude let’s release it for the N64 while we’re at it, maybe even throw in the Dreamcast if you’re feeling confident

Will the developers have to sacrifice a lot to port the game to older consoles, however? There’s one big hint that suggests, no, the remake might run fine on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Should the Game Only Be Restricted to a Few Platforms?
Current-gen console owners seem concerned about the game’s quality being sacrificed to make it compatible with the previous generation of consoles.
However, there’s one major factor that hints at its compatibility as is. The game is scheduled to come out on the Switch, which uses very old hardware.
If it can run fine on the Switch, chances are that older consoles can run the game fine as well, if not even better. It would only improve the company’s sales if more people could buy it on their platform of choice.
