Low price is a big high for EVs

MG Motor Australia has smashed the EV price barrier, pushing the MG4 51 Excite down to $30,990 until October 31.

We think it’s a breakthrough driveaway price for EVs, which have been plagued by being more expensive than their petrol or hybrid counterparts. And it is covered by MG’s 10-year warranty, which would be transferred by resale.

MG Motor Australia’s chief commercial officer, Giles Belcher, explains: “We truly believe the MG4 is the EV for everyone and now, with these offers, including the MG4 Excite 51 from $30,990 plus factory bonus offers across all other trims we have an MG4 for every buyer.

“The offer ensures all buyers who had been thinking of making the switch to an EV now can thanks to the lower entry point. We’re excited to get customers into our multi-award winning car that’s been designed and built from the ground up backed by a 10-year warranty and five-star ANCAP rating.”

Mr Belcher points out that the 51kWh MG4 electric has more than 15 global awards and a five-star ANCAP safety rating.

And he acknowledges that value for money will help Aussies weather the rising cost of living and bring peace of mind to those that make the leap to EV. “We know that people may have been considering an EV but potentially have held off due to the cost, now with this limited time offer we’re giving everyone the opportunity to own an MG4.”

The price campaign starts with the MG4 Excite 51 at $30,990, but there are also factory bonuses of up to $8000 across other MG4s, including the Essence 64, the Long Range 77 and the powerful X-POWER.

They have the 10-year, 250,000km warranty. Mr Belcher says: “What does this mean in the real world? Well, the average person keeps a car for around six to eight years and that means that there is still warranty that can transfer to the next owner ensuring peace of mind for one or more owners over the span of a decade.

“We’ve got a lot of sunshine and some of the most expensive electricity in Australia, with the majority of our country receiving many hours of sunshine per day, when averaged throughout the year, it makes complete sense to install solar and recharge your car from the sun.”

MG also offers a capped-price service program, Precise Price Servicing, with pricing locked in for the first seven years of maintenance through authorised dealers.
