Main Roads issue heavy traffic warning ahead of Tate McRae concert at Red Hill Auditorium

Motorists have been warned about road closures and heavy traffic in the Red Hill area ahead of pop star Tate McRae’s concert tonight.

The 21-year-old Canadian singer is set to take to the stage at Red Hill Auditorium at 9pm, where thousands of fans will be waiting to hear her most popular hits.

Main Roads on Friday notified motorists travelling throughout the City of Swan that the westbound lane on Toodyay Road would be closed from 3 p.m. to midnight.

Traffic management and a reduced speed limit would also be in place.

Drivers were warned to expect delays throughout the afternoon and evening.

With the venue’s gates open from 6pm, it’s expected about 5000 McRae fans will fill the auditorium for her only Perth performance which has sold out.

While the outdoor space is popular for large music events, some fans were surprised to discover it was “in the middle of nowhere”.

“Wait a minute… someone tell me why the f*** the venue for Tate McRae’s Perth show in the middle of bumf*** nowhere?” one fan said on X.

Another said: “Tate McRae has announced she’s coming to Perth Australia but she’s literally going to the middle of nowhere????”

Before her big night kicking off the Aussie leg of her tour Think Later, McRae spent Thursday lapping up WA’s sunshine on Rottnest Island.

The Greedy singer and her dancers were spotted lounging on a luxury catamaran, splashing about in the crystal-clear waters and meeting quokkas.

After a day in the sun, McRae was seen offboarding the boat in Fremantle wearing camouflage print trousers and a baggy Sex Pistols crewneck, accessorising with sunglasses, an olive green cap and a brown tote bag.
