Man, 22, booked for murder in Vancouver Mall shooting

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 22-year-old man was booked for murder and assault in connection with the Thursday night shooting at the Vancouver Mall that left one person dead and two others wounded.

Travis L. Ward surrendered to Vancouver police after a home was surrounded on Saturday, officials said in a late Saturday press release. Detectives followed up on information that Ward was inside the home and, with the help of a SWAT unit, took him into custody.

The shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. Thursday near the mall’s food court. The shooter shot one person and “fired other rounds that struck two other individuals.”
