Man, 23, turns himself in after fatal hit and run in northwest Wichita
A 23-year-old Wichita man turned himself in Thursday night after a fatal hit and run that happened Sunday in northwest Wichita, police said.
The man remained jailed Friday morning on suspicion of failure to stop at an accident in the death of 43-year-old Thomas Doyle of Wichita, who was killed while riding an electric bicycle at around 2:09 a.m. Sunday in the 2400 block of North Hoover. Doyle died at the scene.
Records show the suspect lives 1.6 miles from the accident, but he was arrested in the 300 block of North Riverview, which is near Second Street, close to the Arkansas River.
No charges have been filed as of Friday morning.
Police released a picture of the suspect vehicle Wednesday afternoon, asking the community for help in finding the suspect. Police have found that vehicle, Capt. Aaron Moses said in an email.
Moses did not answer additional questions, including whether the vehicle is the suspect’s.
“We don’t have any additional information to release at this time,” he said.
