Man arrested after he knocks on door, stabs resident

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 23-year-old man has been arrested after he allegedly went up to a home in far East El Paso and began stabbing the person who answered the door on Sunday, July 28, El Paso Police said.

Jorge Miguel Perez, a 23-year-old from Horizon City, has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

The victim was described as a 56-year-old man, who received non-life-threatening injuries.

Shortly before 3 p.m. on Sunday, El Paso Police were called out to the 14000 block of Tierra Leona about a reported stabbing.

When police arrived, they found the suspect being held down by several people in the front yard of a home, police said.

According to the preliminary investigation, Perez knocked at the door of the home, and when there was no answer, he walked away.

A short time later, Perez returned and when the victim answered the door, Perez asked to speak to someone who did not live there.

Perez then began to stab the victim several times, police said.

The victim and several other people at the home began to fight the suspect in an effort to take the knife away from him, police said.

The suspect was eventually subdued until police arrived.

The victim and suspect were both transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The suspect was released from the hospital and booked into El Paso County Detention Facility under a $150,000 bond, police said.
