Manjimup crash: 14-year-old boy dies in hospital after off-road bike crash

A 14-year-old boy has died in hospital days after being seriously injured in an off-road motorcycle crash in the South West.

Major crash officers have launched an investigation into the incident, which happened on Perup Road in Manjimup, about 6.15pm on October 15.

St John WA paramedics and WA Police arrived at the scene before the teenager, who lost control of the motorcycle, was rushed to Warren District Hospital with serious injuries.

He was later flown to Perth by the Royal Flying Doctor Service and admitted to Perth Children’s Hospital.

On Sunday, a police spokesman confirmed the teen had recently died in hospital of his injuries.

The tragedy comes as five other people died after being seriously injured in crashes on WA roads at the weekend.

In Carlisle, in the early hours of Saturday, three men were killed in a crash on Orrong Road. The driver of the car has been charged over their deaths.

North of Perth, two Indonesian nationals were killed in a head-on crash on Indian Ocean Drive later on Saturday evening — taking this year’s horrific road toll to 147.

Anyone impacted by a road crash can call Road Trauma Support WA on 1300 004 814.
