Many weather changes coming to Tampa Bay area. Here’s the timeline for rain and more cold temperatures
The Brief
Each of the next few days will bring different weather conditions to the Tampa Bay area.
We’ll warm up into the 70s on Saturday, followed by rain on Sunday and another big cooldown into next week.
Will it snow in Florida? It’s possible, but only in the far northern portion of the state.
TAMPA, Fla. – More big weather changes are on the way to the Tampa Bay area this weekend and into next week.
FOX 13 meteorologists say we’ll warm up as we head into the weekend before rain and storms come our way, followed by another round of chilly air.
Friday forecast
What’s next
FOX 13 Meteorologist Dave Osterberg says afternoon highs will reach the mid-to-upper 60s with variable cloud cover, but we’ll stay rain-free.
Temperatures should warm into the mid-to-upper 60s on Friday.
How will this weekend look?
Timeline
Saturday will be the warmest of the next seven days, according to Osterberg, with temperatures climbing into the low-to-mid 70s. Conditions should be mild and breezy for the Gasparilla Children’s Parade in Tampa.
Conditions should be mild and breezy for Saturday’s Gasparilla Children’s Parade, according to meteorologists.
Osterberg says wind shifting back to the south will be the catalyst for those higher temps.
Winds will shift back to the south this weekend, allowing for a short-lived warmup.
Sunday will be a wet day, however, with a line of cold rain and storms arriving in the morning and lasting several hours.
“I don’t think it’s just going to speed on through,” Osterberg said of Sunday’s rain. “It’s going to take its sweet time, so I don’t think Sunday’s going to be that great a day. We’re going to have a lot of cloud cover, some showers and maybe some rumbles of thunder.”
Big chill on the way again
By the numbers
By Monday, the cold air returns with highs staying in the 50s and lows falling into the 30s on Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Freezing temperatures are possible in our northern zones.
Along with the chill, Osterberg says another disturbance will move across the Gulf on Tuesday, which could bring heavy rain to the Bay Area on Tuesday into Wednesday.
A disturbance is expected to move over Florida next Tuesday into Wednesday, bringing cold rain to the Bay Area.
Snow possible in Florida
What we know
The same disturbance that could bring heavy, cold rain to the Bay Area on Tuesday has a chance to produce snow, or at least sleet, in parts of the Florida Panhandle.
“That’s a possibility. Not a probability – a possibility,” Osterberg said.
Local perspective
As of Friday, snow is not in the forecast anywhere in Central Florida, including the Tampa Bay area.
Temperatures will warm up, then get cold again with multiple rainy days over the next week, according to meteorologists.
