Margaret River bikers claim places at Collie MTB headliners

Margaret River mountain bikers delivered impressive performances at the recent 2024 AusCycling MTB Enduro National and Oceania Championships held at Wellington National Park in Collie.

Marking the first time a national-level enduro event was held in WA, Capes riders seized the opportunity to shine on national and international stages.

Veteran rider Roly Kyme represented the region with a strong fifth-place finish in the Oceania Championships on October 17.

Kyme’s skill carried over to the Australian National Championships, where he placed second in the men’s elite field on Sunday, October 20.

In the elite women’s division, Jahla Tosh put forth a stellar ride to secure fifth place.

The October 19 races saw junior and e-bike categories take on the trails.

Margaret River’s young talent stood out, with Meg McKenzie taking second in the under-17 girls and Sage Dingey earning third in under-15s.

The junior boys performed strongly as well, with Tommy Lukac claiming third and Travis Smith fifth in the under-15 division, while Mitch Delfs placed fourth in the e-bike category.

The success of Margaret River riders in Collie highlighted the region’s dedication to the sport, a Margaret River Off-Road Cycling Association spokesperson said.

Local athletes were lauded for their skill and tenacity.
