Marvel Rivals May Need a Balance Patch to Fix One Character’s Ridiculous Underpowering

Marvel Rivals, the upcoming online multiplayer game featuring iconic Marvel superheroes and villains. The gaming community has been waiting for a multiplayer project where they can play against fellow players as their favorite characters for the ultimate brawl for supremacy.

Fans have high expectations and based on early previews and trailers, the developers are firing on all cylinders to deliver an authentic superhero experience. However, multiplayer games are bundled with issues and some have noticed something irregular about the damage one character can do.

The Gaming Community Caught an Interesting Nerf Made by the Developers of Marvel Rivals

Marvel Games made the right call to partner with NetEase Games to deliver an ambitious online multiplayer project. The developers are no strangers to multiplayer projects and are more than qualified to work on Rivals.

Marvel Rivals already gained a headstart from other Marvel projects like Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars for featuring Doctor Doom in a multiversal rollercoaster. Perhaps this project will grow even stronger throughout the years following the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The developers hosted closed beta tests for a select few players, and some observant players have noticed something strange regarding the balancing and scaling of certain characters with different power sets and capabilities. Fans are baffled by the efforts to nerf certain characters to a point where it is no longer realistic.

Why does hulk do the same amount of damage as a Magneto quick melee???

The game is far from perfect and the developers held these beta tests for a reason. Other characters like the Punisher were too overpowered and could go on for rounds without retreating or looking for some respite which left players scratching their heads if this was the Frank Castle they read in the comics growing up.

There is a fine line between overpowered and just enough and the developers could not get the perfect balance just yet. Erik Lensherr is an Omega-level mutant and is renowned for being the master of magnetism and the Incredible Hulk is an angry brute capable of great violence and somehow Lensherr’s quick melee attacks are par that can break immersion.

The developers have a lot of work to do before the official launch and scale the characters authentically without feeling too overpowered. Fans discovered the developers nerfed Adam Warlock after seeing the changes to the cooldown of his regenerative cocoon ability. They realized it was too overpowered and could dissuade the gaming community from using him and going against him in a match.

Finding the right balance is essential in a multiplayer game where players can get competitive. Players will tear the game to shreds with any minor inconvenience they encounter that could cascade into something larger that can affect the game’s future.

The game has no official release date but is expected to drop sometime next year which buys NetEase Games ample time to make the necessary changes based on the community’s feedback. Listening to community feedback is important to cater to their needs and take their observations as vital data.

Perhaps the developers will nerf the quick melee attacks of Magneto to showcase the power of the Hulk. Two different characters with similar rates of damage can get unrealistic.
