Massachusetts high school closed amid investigation into threat made against student
A Massachusetts high school is closed Friday amid an investigation into a threat that was made against a student, officials said.
Blackstone-Millville Regional High School was closed out of an abundance of caution after a student on Thursday night reported that a threat had been made against them over social media, according to Blackstone-Millville Regional School District Superintendent Jason DeFalco and Blackstone Police Chief Gregory Gilmore.
“While the threat does not appear to be credible, we are closing the high school so the police departments can continue their investigation,” DeFalco and Gilmore said in a statement. “Our first and foremost concern is for the safety of our students. This is an extreme step, but it’s taken with your children in mind.”
The middle and elementary schools were open on Friday with an increased police presence.
DeFalco and Gilmore said updates would be provided when new information becomes available.
Millville police and Blackstone police are investigating the reported threat.
