Mechs in Helldivers 2 Need a Lethality Upgrade That Aligns With the Essence of the Game
The mech suits in Helldivers 2 are a powerful weapon used by the Super Earth protectors. With these durable EXO-45 Patriot Suits, you can fight down Automatons and Terminids by combining a heavy machine gun with rockets. Despite being a simple weapon, the Patriot Exosuit is incredibly powerful. This stratagem has a ten-minute cooldown in between uses, however it can be used twice in a mission.
This particular Mech has a 14-shot rocket launcher and a 1000-shot Gatling rifle. However, if enemies get their hands on this superb technology, then this is going to be a big problem for the Super Earth protectors. That is why the community has a great idea to restrict the enemy factions from getting to these mechs.
The EXO-45 Patriot suit in Helldivers 2 needs a self-destruction feature
Recently a dedicated Helldivers 2 fan has shared a his thought about how to keep the enemies from getting these mech suits in the game. In a Reddit post, the fan asked everyone to destroy the EXO-45 Patriot suit if that mech has spent all of its bullets or is badly damaged. And as the community has announced the toughest enemy faction in the game, you can’t afford to let them get this modern technology.
In order to do that, all you have to do is shoot on the knees of that mech which will eventually blast that robot. Now, amidst heated-up situations, this feels like a tedious situation and enemies end up getting their hands on these super-effective robots.
That is why another fan on the comment section of that post suggested that Arrowhead Game Studios should add a self-destruction feature that could eventually destroy that mech suit automatically after a player evacuates that particular robot.

This feature will have another benefit too. You might overload the core and transform it into a mobile Hellbomb by causing it to self-destruct, similar to calling in a stratagem, once it has lost both guns or sustained too much damage.
Not only that, this addition would also change the way how players use mech. They would be excellent vanguard stuff rather than just defensive stratagems. Imagine using one of these to dash into a bug nest, kill as many Terminids as you can, and then quickly leave after setting the self-destruct off. However, the mech suit needs other upgrades as well.
What is the future of mech suits in Helldivers 2?
There are two more possible Mech Variations for Helldivers 2 based on the original Helldivers game. The Obsidian Exosuit, which had two 20mm autocannons, was the first. Although it struggles greatly against strong armor, this suit is excellent at eliminating adversaries with low or medium armor.
This Exosuit would probably be a popular option as well, given how well-liked the autocannon support weapon is. But in some situations, it might be more effective against specific adversaries. For instance, the Terminids have more heavy armor troops than the Automatons, who, aside from the Hulk, are primarily medium-armored.
The Lumberer, the other Exosuit from the original game, had a flamethrower and a 90mm gun. The purpose of this outfit was to eliminate larger targets while saving the flamethrower for situations in which smaller units approach too closely.
Given that flamethrowers and fire damage were greatly enhanced by the most recent balance patch, this suit is probably going to be very popular. The Lumberer would be marginally more effective against Terminids than the Obsidian suit because flamethrowers are less effective against robotic Automatons.
Let’s see if Arrowhead pays heed to this brilliant idea by that dedicated fan and brings any addition to mech suits in Helldivers 2 or brand new mech suits as a whole!
