SANDUSKY (WJW) — As Cedar Point put it, get ready to go over the falls one last time.

The Snake River Falls boat ride is closing after 31 years on Labor Day, the park announced in its blog, to make room for future expansion.

“What’s that expansion?” the blog said. “Of course we can’t tell you that. Yet.”

According to the park, the ride debuted as the “tallest, steepest and fastest water flume ride in the world” back in 1993.

During the ride, boats climb up a mountain and travel through a tunnel before plunging back down, creating a wave Cedar Point says measures up to 64 feet wide and 30 feet long. Often, park guests would stand on the bridge waiting to be splashed.

More than 15 million people have ridden Snake River Falls.

It was announced back in March that the park’s Snake River Expedition would not return for the 2024 season. It opened in May of 2021.
