Metaphor: ReFantazio – How to Beat Homo Fulquilo Boss Guide
This is a quick guide on how to beat Homo Fulquilo. The protagonist and their party will encounter this boss in their journey, and it will not go down without a fight. Players charging in without a plan, the proper party setup, or equipment will not stand a chance against Homo Fulquilo.
Not everyone in the gaming community is accustomed to the combat system developed by Studio Zero for this project, especially the turn-based combat system, which is a massive departure from most fast-paced action games nowadays. Fortunately, the boss is not invincible and can be defeated with effort.
Where Can You Find Homo Fulquilo?
The protagonist can encounter Homo Fulquilo at the dungeons of the Nord Mines during the prologue chapter. Metaphor: ReFantazio gets the ground running and throws the player base into the deep end. On the way in, players will be intercepted by a group of soldiers that will escalate into a fight before heading into the dungeons; however, they are not as challenging as what lies ahead.
Homo Fulquilo is a powerful foe and should not be underestimated. Fortunately, like every other opponent, this boss has a weakness that the players and their party can exploit.
How to Prepare to Fight Homo Fulquilo?
The protagonist should have enough healing items to replenish the health of the party and Magla pills to use more magic abilities in a fight. Players can purchase Magla pills from vendors within neighbouring towns with shops and use various fast travel methods to save time, like opening the minimap to pinpoint the nearest shop or using their swords to glide through the area.
Tip
It is worth noting that there are specific limitations to fast travel. There is a strong possibility that once the party enters the Nord Mines, they cannot fast travel to nearby shops in towns and it would be wise to stock up before heading in.
With the right amount of items in the inventory, players have a fairly decent chance of success. It wouldn’t hurt to grind for extra Reeve by killing a few smaller enemies and selling their drops to vendors to purchase worthwhile items. Players should invest in armor and other weaponry like the
Suggested Party
Grius | With the Mage Archetype equipped, Grius can use ice-based attacks to hurt Homo Fulquilo and it would be wise to put a caster around the back end of the formation. |
The Protagonist | Players can equip either the Mage Archetype or the Seeker for the Protagonist. As a fellow Mage, the Protagonist can take turns with Grius to use Blizz and exploit the boss’ weakness to ice, or as a Seeker, they can support their allies with buffs. |
Strohl | Strohl is a warrior who should be at the front during the encounter. Homo Fulquilo is susceptible to melee damage |
How to Beat Homo Fulquilo?
Turn-based combat can be somewhat challenging for some players, and the game developers of Metaphor: ReFantazio wanted to bring that feeling of planning and strategizing back to modern games. Homo Fulquilo is an early boss in the game, and underestimating it will most likely guarantee a party’s defeat; however, with the right formation, equipment, and party members, players can experience victory.
Optional | No |
Weak to? | Ice and Slash |
Best Archetypes to Equip? | Mage, Seeker, and Warrior |
Difficulty | 7/10 Homo Fulquilo is powerful and has a handful of attacks that can eliminate the Protagonist after a few turns. |
How to Cheese Homo Fulquilo? | Players can immediately exploit the boss’ weakness to ice. Grius and the protagonist with the Mage archetype can use Bliss to inflict more damage. |
Rewards | 200 EXP, 1000 Reeve, 900 MAG, and 125 A-EXP |
Worth the Trouble? | Yes |
As an early boss fight, players are limited to Strohl and Grius as their party members. It may seem like a disadvantage at first; however, these three are all a player needs with the right archetypes.
Strohl must be positioned at the front, while Grius and Protagonist can be at the back. Whether the players choose to equip the Seeker or Mage archetype on the protagonist, it would be wise to put him at the back as a support role. Grius and the protagonist can use Blizz to hurt Homo Fulquilo, while Strohl can use a diagonal slash to chip away at the health bar.
Players should have enough healing items to recover from Homo Fulquilo’s attacks. After a few hits with Blizz and Diagonal Slash, the party will have the upper hand, and this is an efficient way to beat Homo Fulquilo.
Homo Fulquilo will drop a few rewards like EXP, Reeve, which is the in-game currency, and many more. This early boss fight is a glimpse of what’s to come as players continue the story of Metaphor: ReFantazio and should be ready.
