Metaphor: ReFantazio – How to Beat Melancholia Zorba Boss Guide

Looking for a way to know how to beat Melancholia Zorba in Metaphor: ReFantazio? Bosses are the most attractive part of role-playing games, as they make the game challenging by posing obstacles. Metaphor: Refantazio is not an exception. The game has multiple bosses to take down, though not all of them are mandatory to fight.

Melancholia Zorba is not an optional boss. Therefore, when you encounter this enemy, there’s no way you can skip this fight. This strange-looking boss will give you a hard time, which can be significantly reduced if you know the best archetypes and part members to bring to fight him.

Where Can You Find Melancholia Zorba in Metaphor: ReFantazio?

As you progress through Metaphor: ReFantazio, Melancholia Zorba boss will be found while completing the Skybound Avatar Conquest. This is a main story quest, so there’s no way you will miss this boss. Progressing through the story will eventually begin this story mission.

Keep progressing through Skybound Avatar Conquest, and you will reach the Skybound Avatar Dungeon. This is the final area of the quest before players enter Louis, and Melancholia Zorba is also the final boss of the mission.

Though Melancholia Zorba appears pretty late in the game, this is not the first time he has come. Players must have fought him previously during the Necromancer Takedown Quest. Therefore, it won’t be hard for them to guess the challenge this enemy will create during the battle.

How to Prepare to Fight Melancholia Zorba in Metaphor: ReFantazio?

melancholia zorba's mutated form
In Metaphor: ReFantazio this mutated form of Zorba will be one of the hardest to beat.

Zorba is now different. He wasn’t an easy enemy to deal with in the beginning as well, but his corrupted version is much more challenging than what he was previously. This second encounter will be tougher primarily because the boss now has two modes: offense and defense. Once he turns on the defense mode, there’s no way any spell will work on him.

Another thing that players must note before jumping to beat the boss is that Melancholia Zorba doesn’t have any specific weakness to exploit. Therefore, we would suggest players unlock all the archetypes at this point to equip the best against this mage enemy. Only having suitable archetypes will bring certain differences in battle.

Tip

While in the defense form, Melancholia Zorba not only gets resistance to elemental Skill Attacks but also buffs himself, which makes the damage process further complicated.

Despite the fact that you have to take the lead to take this enemy down, you need to have a powerful team to assist you in the process. You need members who can use archetypes like Masked Dancer and Summoner’s Skill.

Suggested Party

Character Best Archetypes and Skills
Junah Junah will be a great help because she is a member of your party who can use the Royal Masked Dancer archetype with the Wizard’s Mask.
Eupha Eupha’s strength is that she can use Summoner Archetype. She will be the one dealing maximum damage during the Offense form.
Protagonist Another good choice for this battle, especially when the enemy is in Defense mode. Able to deal Almighty Damage.

Players must be careful during this fight as the boss has no prominent weaknesses.

As soon as the fight begins, almost instantly, players will realize that Melancholia Zorba is the first proper threat they need to deal with.

He is the last boss players need to tackle before they reach the final enemy of the game, Louis. So, even before you start, you must keep in mind that this fight will take time, and you must be calm and follow your strategy without losing patience

Optional: No
Weak to: No such weakness.
Best Archetypes to Equip: Royal Masked Dancer for Junah, Royal Summoner for Eupha, and Prince Archetype for the Protagonist.
Difficulty: 8/10
How to Cheese Melancholia Zorba: There’s no such way to cheese the enemy. Players must fight hard to beat it.
Rewards: 12600 EXP, 15000 MAG, 10000 Money, Energy Incense, and Health Incense.
Worth the Trouble: Yes

From the beginning of the battle, the boss will be in his defense mode; therefore, he will be completely resistant to elemental skill attacks. At this point, players must focus on using Junah and The Protagonist. These two characters possess Royal Masked Dancer and Prince Archetypes, which have skills that bypass the resistance of Melancholia Zorba.

Using Masked Dance will inflict a one-time weakness on the boss, and then use Royal Summoner to inflict that damage on him. It will help break his defense form faster.

Keep in mind that, in his defense mode, the boss will keep taking buffs from your party and give them to himself, making the damaging process more complicated. So, make sure to use Royal Slash to maximize your damage output.

Once you have dealt enough damage to the enemy in his defense form, it will transform into its offense form. This is not going to be an easy one anyway. During this stage, the boss will have no weakness or resistance. That will be a more challenging thing to handle.

As soon as he transforms, he will start attacking. Therefore, make sure your team is in full health and no party member is off-guard. Survival will be the greatest challenge at this point.

The moment he turns to his offensive mode, he will do a Soul Scream giving him four additional turns. The boss will attack in all four turns. He has a few attacks that deal substantial damage.

If you find the fight too hard and your characters are suffering, we recommend keeping Hulkenberg on the team. She will be the one with the Royal Knight Archetype and be a massive support system for the team. Precisely, Hulkenberg can tank most of the damage for her party members.

This fight is tough and time-consuming, but this is not an impossible enemy to beat. However, bosses in the game are indeed tough. If you are struggling to beat a boss like Homo Jaluzo in Metaphor: ReFantazio, we have a dedicated guide to complete the fight without much trouble.
