Metro Awakening Release Date Revealed During State of Play

PlayStation’s State of Play showcase has brought us the release date for Metro Awakening, the post-apocalyptic VR game that’s expanding the 15-year-old franchise. It was revealed during the event along with a new trailer that gave us a fresh glimpse at the horror awaiting us in the dank, mutant-ridden Moscow metro.

Venture Into The Tunnels

Metro Awakening is set to be one of the most chilling VR games released in years. I was fortunate to play a lengthy demo of the upcoming title during Gamescom, and I was blown away by the sheer authenticity of the game. It’s even more terrifying from the VR perspective, and it motivated me to go out and buy a Meta Quest 3.

During the PlayStation State of Play showcase, it was confirmed that Metro Awakening will be released on November 7, 2024.

Metro Awakening is set to drop on PSVR2, Meta Quest, and Steam VR, covering all the major bases for VR gamers worldwide.

Even if you’ve never played a Metro game before, it’s well worth picking up a copy – it’s a solid shooter with some intuitive mechanics, and it’s as immersive and graphically impressive a post-apocalyptic game as you’ll see on VR devices for years to come.

In that vein, it puts similar titles like Fallout 4 VR to shame.

The latest trailer showcased during State of Play showed just how mysterious and frightening this game will be.
