Metro Detroit to see thundershowers, stifling mugginess and then ‘really nice stretch’
It has been sticky with early Monday morning thundershowers in metro Detroit.
But suppose we can get through some more downpours, humidity, and a slight chance of hail overnight into Tuesday morning. In that case, National Weather Service forecasters predict a “really nice stretch” of midsummer weather.
“Rain chances are minimal on Wednesday, just isolated activity, with temperatures in the 70s to near 80 through Friday,” Dave Gurney, a weather service meteorologist in White Lake Township, told the Free Press. “It will be awful nice out if we can get to Wednesday.”

But first, expect some rain, possibly up to an inch in the next 12 hours and some stifling hot temperatures.
Last week, the remnants of Hurricane Beryl brought flooding to some areas of Michigan — and nationwide.
The rain on Monday, Gurney said, should last until about noon, with a few thousand Michigan utility customers losing power. By about 8 a.m., DTE reported about 1,000 homes without electricity, and Consumers Energy, 4,200.
The sun, Gurney said, might come out for a while Monday afternoon, but the skies will be largely overcast with temperatures in the 80s. With the humidity, he said, it will feel like it’s in the mid to upper 90s, and by about 10 p.m., the rain should start up again, with potential thundershowers overnight.
Rain is expected to continue into Tuesday morning and then subside by the afternoon. That is expected to be followed by a cold front, which will cool the high temperatures, initially into the lower 80s and then, mid-70s, and the sun eventually will re-appear.
“So,” Gurney added, “if we just get through the next day — day and a half — of hot, muggy weather, and some storms tonight, and it should be really nice after that.”
