MGS Delta: David Hayter Says He’s Doing “Some Things Voice-Wise” He Can’t Talk About Yet

“If you’re playing your game and sunlight is coming through your window onto your TV, you’re not seeing any ray tracing. It has to be super optimal… you have to have an 8K monitor in a dark room to see these things.” – Shawn Layden

lmao what? Does this man not have eyes? Somebody show him path-traced Cyberpunk. Do it at 1440p with DLSS performance mode (internal 720p) to really drive the point home that he doesn’t have any idea what he’s talking about. Somebody show him a stuttery Unreal Engine mess of a game like Dead Space remake on PC. Show him what RT can do for Metro Exodus or Control. This is where we’re happy? This awful, practically game-less backwards expensive-to-develop-games-for -due-to-needing-to-bake-in-eve rything generation? I’m already so over it.

In a way I do agree with him – hardware hasn’t seen an enormous improvement since the 30 series PC GPUs – but to claim that the PS5 is the end of noticeable graphical increases… the console that runs FF16 at 720p and Alan Wake 2 at 864p, and can only manage one RT effect at any given moment save for a handful of examples (mostly Insomniac examples) – it’s just incorrect. If the PS5 and PS5 Pro are where consoles remain indefinitely, then I will absolutely be ignoring my PS5 and exclusively switching to PC, where I can happily advance video game technology and visuals. Thankfully, that wont happen, as this guy is clearly just a goofy goober
