Minecraft-PS5 Native Version Is Out Now With 4K Visuals

Mojang has finally launched a native edition of Minecraft on PS5, meaning the game now sports 4K visuals at 60fps on Sony’s system. Previously, PS5 owners were stuck with playing the PS4 version of the sandbox game.

The Minecraft blog notes that Minecraft on PS5 also features a “greater render distance,” which will be helpful on harder difficulties. This new native PS5 version is a free upgrade for anyone who already owns Minecraft: Bedrock Edition on PS4.

A native PS5 version of Minecraft was teased last month to celebrate the sandbox game’s 15th anniversary. On top of this release, Mojang also launched the Bundles of Bravery drop, which brings a Hardcore mode to the game. If desired, players can also turn off respawning in this mode for an extra-brutal challenge.

There is also a physical edition of Minecraft PS5 that comes with 3,500 tokens. Equating to $20 of in-game currency, the tokens can be used on texture packs and worlds, for example.

Minecraft on PS5 costs $20 digitally. The new edition offers cross-play with all over versions of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. Be sure to check out GameSpot’s Minecraft guides hub for help in building and surviving in the sandbox title.

Meanwhile, a Minecraft movie is slated to premiere in theaters next year that stars Jack Black and Jason Momoa. Last month, the first trailer arrived and showcased how the blocky video game world will translate to a live-action film.
