Minecraft PS5 Physical Edition Costs $30, Comes With $20 Of In-Game Currency
Mojang is now gearing up to give Minecraft a PS5 upgrade–one that’ll make full use of the console’s processing power, allowing you to run it in 4K at 60fps. The physical version of Minecraft for PS5 is now up for preorder ahead of its October 22 release, and it comes with a pretty awesome bonus.
$30
The physical version of Minecraft on PS5 costs $30, but it’s bundled with 3,500 tokens. These can be used to purchase additional content on the Minecraft Marketplace, such as texture packs, worlds, and more. And since 3,500 tokens would typically cost you $20, you’re essentially getting Minecraft on PS5 for just $10. The offer gets even more enticing if you preorder from Best Buy, which is offering a $5 gift card to anyone who preorders.
Mojang notes that this version of Minecraft is compatible with all Bedrock versions of Minecraft, allowing you to enjoy crossplay with friends on other platforms.
If you’re a new player, this is the most economical way to purchase Minecraft on PS5–as long as you think you’ll want to spend in-game currency. Keep in mind that if you already own Minecraft on PS4, you’ll get access to a digital PS5 version for free.
Mojang also recently discussed changes to the content roadmap for the game, with the studio now expected to launch several free updates throughout the year and doing away with the popular Mob vote. In other words, if you’ve never played the sandbox game, this is a pretty interesting time to jump in.
Minecraft is the No. 1 best-selling game of all time by a wide margin, so it doesn’t really need any help drumming up interest, but the upcoming Minecraft film adaptation will surely do just that. While you wait for the movie’s April 4, 2025 release, check out all of the official Minecraft novels and graphic novels you can read now, all of which are particularly great for younger fans.
