Modern Warfare Remastered climbs Steam charts as MW2 multiplayer mod prepares to launch

A multiplayer mod for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered has caused the game to shoot to near the top of the Steam best-seller charts.

At the time of writing, the 8-year-old entry in the franchise is Steam’s fourth best-selling game. The sales boom has been sparked by H2M, a mod for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered that implements a refreshed take on the multiplayer portion of the original Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.

The mod will feature over 50 maps, according to its developers, and will also include an updated progression system, as well as new attachments and camos that weren’t featured in the original game. Modern Warfare 2’s original suite of killsteaks are being included as part of the mod.

The mod will require the base game of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered when it launches on August 16.

The mod will combine the maps that were already included in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered alongside the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 maps that the modders have brought forward from the original game.

2023’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 featured remakes of every original map from the original release Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
