Mortal Kombat 1 Seems to Have Forgotten its Roots, and Fans Won’t Stand for It
Last year, fans and critics welcomed Mortal Kombat 1 with a pretty amazing reception. Changing history once again is all possible with Liu Kang and his demigod powers to rewrite things as he pleases.
But this is not all good news. Some hardcore fans of the franchise did not love all the aspects of the game; certain details were not what they were waiting for. These fans found many of the character designs and stages to be quite bland. This discussion was very specific, with a description of all the things that this fan didn’t like. This was posted on X.
The latest installment of the most violent franchise ever made has given fans some very nostalgic features, like coming to the origin of some very popular characters like Johnny Cage, Raiden, and the popular Sub-Zero and Scorpion.
Ed Boon, the man behind Mortal Kombat 1, made players go back to the 1990s in a new way of playing MK; the cameos were added, and the gameplay dynamic changed entirely.
I 100% agree with you! This new game doesn’t look and feel Mortal Kombat anymore. It’s like one of any fighting games. Also do you remember the church stage in MK Trilogy? It gave me nightmares with the soundtrack when I was a kid!

But it is not all happiness between fans; a very angry portion of the MK fandom is not happy with some decisions that involve Mortal Kombat 1. A very frustrated fan makes a long list of things that he doesn’t love about this game.
One of the items makes another user agree and shows how a particular stage will be a good addition to the game. He described The Pit with a soundtrack and all; this stage will be very well received by fans.
This user also talked about the design of the female characters, comparing them with previous entries where the characters had fewer clothes.
The user further noted that certain characters feature a lacklustre design and uninteresting gameplay, which can lead to a monotonous and repetitive experience, particularly in the online mode. This applies to DLC characters that have nothing to do with the game and make players really frustrated when fighting.
Mortal Kombat 1 keeps going strong, with the first fighter pack not being completed, but characters like Homelander from The Boys will be available for players.
Currently, NetherRealm Studios has not confirmed any additional fighter packs, yet each new release introduces at least three of these packs. Fans can eagerly anticipate the arrival of the next characters in the game in the upcoming months.
