New destruction shooter The Finals fails to perform “as expected”
Nexon’s free-to-play destruction shooter, The Finals, has apparently under performed than the studio believed it would. The game launched as somewhat of a surprise launch, with it having to deal with an influx of cheaters plaguing the servers.
As shared by its recent earnings report, the hacker-themed Season 2 didn’t hit quite as hard as the studio hoped, stating it only “created a short-lived increase in player metrics.” Embark Studios, The Finals’ developer and subsidiary of Nexon, is working on understanding and addressing “the key issues” with the help of the Live Operations team based in Korea.
There is set to be a Season 3 for the destruction shooter slated sometime next month. The hope here is that gamers will get gripped by the new season and hopefully stay around longer.
In adjacent news, funds were lower than expected for the still-well-off studio, while its revenue was up, with The Finals and the smash-hit restaurant and fishing sim, Dave the Diver, being big factors into current financial situation.
