Blizzard is once again working on a new StarCraft shooter. According to information from Jason Schreier’s new book, Play Nice: The Rise, Fall, and Future Of Blizzard Entertainment, the new game is being built by a team led by former Far Cry lead Dan Hay.

Schreier, who appeared on a recent IGN podcast, spoke about the game and is passage from the book.

Talking with Ryan McCaffrey, Schreier was asked about if the game was still going on or if it could have been cancelled already. To which Schreier replied, “If it’s not cancelled. I mean, that’s a strong – this is Blizzard, after all, their history with StarCraft shooters is not good.”

He added that, as far as he knew, it was still in development while stating that “StarCraft is not dead at Blizzard”.

This new StarCraft shooter wouldn’t be the first time Blizzard has attempted to go down this route. Back in the early-to-mid 2000s, they were working on StarCraft Ghost that received a lot of hype only to be cancelled. Then there was project Ares, a first-person shooter that was in development for at least two years before being cancelled in 2019.
