New Stardew Valley update heading our way next month

Developer ConcernedApe has confirmed the 1.6 update of his mega-success farming sim, Stardew Valley, is heading out the door next month, with a specific date in mind. In similar news, it’s the eighth anniversary of the game, so there’s that.

On Twitter, Eric Barone, the dev behind the pixel-art farming sim, revealed the PC version of the update will release on March 19, with console and mobile updates “as soon as possible.”

Fans have been waiting for 1.6 for some time now, with it touted as being “larger in scope” than the dev planned. Of course, last year we heard why he has kept this game updated and his primary focus while letting his upcoming game, Haunted Chocolatier, stick around in the backseat. Largely, it boiled down to its continued player base and it being his “life’s work.”

The 1.6 update will add more dialogue, more general content, a better multiplayer experience, and more. You can play with your old saves, but Barone reccomends starting a fresh Stardew Valley save to properly enjoy the weaving narrative and context.

More Smash Jump: Baldur’s Gate has sold way over 10 million copies, Skull and Bones reportedly has less than a million players, and the next Borderlands is Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford’s favorite in the series.
