New Trailer For A Minecraft Movie Provides A Deeper Look At The Block-Based Blockbuster
Warner Bros. has released the first full-length trailer for its upcoming block-based blockbuster, A Minecraft Movie. A teaser trailer was released back in September, but today marks the first time fans of the franchise have gotten a good look at what director Jared Hess has in store.
A Minecraft Movie follows a young boy named Henry (Sebastian Eugene Hansen) as he navigates the vast and perilous Minecraft universe. Joined by the mining-obsessed Steve (Jack Black) and a variety of other characters (played by the likes of Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, and Danielle Brooks), Henry and the group face a formidable evil that threatens to consume their world: the Ender Dragon.
Visually, the trailer is a stunning showcase of the Minecraft universe, featuring vibrant colors, appropriately blocky environmental designs, and tons of familiar little details that fans of the game are sure to pick up on. (Including a moment where Steve humorously declares, “Welcome to the overworld!”) Later, Steve can be seen showing the group an Ender Pearl and explaining how it works.
The trailer doesn’t give viewers a look at the aforementioned Ender Dragon, and most details regarding the film’s plot remain under wraps. But smaller-scale creatures like the game’s cube-shaped bees, skeletons, and wolves do make an appearance, and the new trailer does provide a tantalizing taste of what fans can expect from this highly anticipated adaptation of the iconic video game.
A Minecraft Movie opens in theaters on April 4, 2025.
