New Vegas 2? Rumors Swirl as Obsidian Confirmed Development on an Unannounced Title Has Begun as Avowed Draws to a Close

Obsidian Entertainment, a fan-favorite studio behind the upcoming Avowed game, is working on another unannounced game. Recently, Daniel Kabuco, Art Director at Obsidian, updated his LinkedIn, hinting that the studio has started working on something fresh.

This news comes as their work on the highly anticipated next game nears completion. Fans are now eagerly speculating about what this new project could be.

Speculation About Grounded 2 and Other Possibilities

Obsidian is already juggling several projects. Besides Avowed, they are also known to be working on The Outer Worlds II, a sequel to their critically acclaimed space RPG from 2019. The original game received praise for its funny writing, narrative depth, and great world-building, making the sequel a highly anticipated release. With these two major projects, it’s clear that the studio is not slowing down anytime soon.

However, the studio’s smaller teams are also busy. The team behind Grounded, a survival game where players navigate a backyard as mini versions of themselves, is another potential candidate for this new project.

The game, made by a small team of developers, has been a surprise hit, engaging players with its unique concept and cooperative gameplay. Fans are excited about what could come next for this IP, possibly a sequel that expands on the original’s ideas.

While the details of this new project remain under wraps for now, the excitement among fans is very high given the studio’s track record. Whatever they are working on will likely be worth the wait.

Their commitment to consistently great games with deep storytelling, RPG mechanics, and memorable characters has always been a big selling point of their games, and this new project will hopefully continue that tradition.

Among the rumors, one of the most exciting and highly-requested possibilities is a sequel to Fallout: New Vegas. The original game, released in 2010, has remained an absolute fan favorite thanks to its insanely rich storytelling, complex characters, and expansive world with plenty of freedom and choice, and consequences that come with it.

Many fans consider it the best entry in the series, despite being developed in a relatively short time frame of 18 months. The idea of Obsidian returning to the Fallout universe, especially with the advancements in game development, graphical fidelity, and technology over the past decade, is very appealing for so many fans. With Microsoft and Xbox in charge of the franchise, this is more likely than it has ever been.

Another possibility is a follow-up to Pentiment, a narrative-driven 2D game that explored medieval history. Though not as widely known as some of the studio’s other titles, the game has a dedicated fanbase that would definitely welcome a sequel.

The speculation doesn’t stop there. The studio has a history of surprising its audience with unexpected and innovative games. This new project could be an entirely new IP, showcasing their creativity and willingness to explore new genres and ideas.

The studio’s ability to balance large-scale RPGs with smaller, more experimental projects has been one of its biggest strengths, and this new title could be another example of that.
