Ninja Reveals Cancer Diagnosis But Doctors Are ‘Optimistic’
Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins, one of the most instantly recognisable streamers in the world, has taken to social media to reveal a skin cancer diagnosis that has left him shocked. He posted a lengthy message on Twitter explaining that following a check-up with a dermatologist, a suspect mole was found on his foot which was then sent for a biopsy.
When the results came back, it was confirmed that the ‘dark spot’ on the bottom of his foot was melanoma, a form of skin cancer.
Ninja stressed on Twitter that his doctors are optimistic that his cancer was caught in ‘the early stages’, but he’s not in the clear yet. He explained that another biopsy is taking place that will confirm whether the full cancer was removed from his foot or whether further treatment will be needed.
He urged his followers to be proactive in getting checkups:
I’m grateful to have hope in finding this early, but please take this as a PSA to get skin checkups.
In the comments, other content creators and Blevins’ peers poured out their love for Ninja, who has a collective following on social and streaming platforms of more than 50 million people. He’s one of the most successful streamers of all time, and within a few hours of posting his update on social media, more than 1,000 comments had been written encouraging Blevins to keep his head up.
Ninja hasn’t posted anything else since making the original announcement.
