North and South Korea’s rubbish-filled balloon saga explained

North Korea has sent at least 260 balloons over the border into the South, scattering suspected excrement, rubbish and propaganda leaflets.

South Korea warned the public about the unpleasant airborne arrival and sent the army out to inspect and collect it.

The two countries have both used balloons to spread propaganda since the Korean war in the 1950s.

The BBC’s Shaimaa Khalil explains what the most recent developments are.
