Nvidia GPUs might increase in price worldwide

The cost of graphics cards has become a hot topic in recent years especially Nvidia customers, with PC game enthusiasts having to shell out more and more for new GPUs due to factors like inflation, increased production costs, limited inventory, and limited competition in the market.

Recent reports from China suggest that associate board (AIB) partners for Nvidia are likely to increase their prices by roughly 10%, particularly in the mainstream sector, as the demand for affordable graphics cards surpasses their supply. Information about this imminent price increase comes from IT House, who state that they received the info from industry insiders, close to the issue.

In addition, ASUS, Gigabyte, Colorful, and Zotac have once again raised the prices of some models of Nvidia graphics cards this month:

  • The overall price of the RTX 4070 SUPER series has increased by 100 yuan.
  • The price of some models of the RTX 4060 Ti / 4060 series has increased by 20 to 50 yuan.
  • The overall price of the RTX 3050 series has increased by 50 yuan.
  • The overall price of the GTX 1650 series has increased by 30 yuan.

IT House also claims that Nvidia has been limiting the supply of new chips for the RTX 4060 Ti to keep prices up, as the previous inventory of GPUs has been exhausted. This will likely impact the rest of the world with further price increases plus the demand in China is immense so demand and supply limitations, plus cost increases will see other markets experiencing the same issues soon.

The report also said that manufacturers expect Nvidia RTX 50 series gaming graphics cards to be launched in the fourth quarter of 2024, barring any delays. The initial models will be RTX 5090/5080, which is expected to drive up the average unit price of graphics cards and increase the shipments of board card manufacturers.
