Octopath Traveler delisting is only temporary

Without warning, Square Enix pulled Octopath Traveler from the eShop earlier this week, now it’s addressing the random pull. Once again, the publisher didn’t give a reason.

On Twitter, the Japanese publisher addressed the delisting, assuring fans that it’s “working on this and will update when the game is available to purchase again.” It didn’t give a timeline of when we can expect the 2018 RPG to return to the hybrid-handheld console, unfortunately.

In terms of why it was delisted, that’s still up on the air, but many, including our very own Adrian, who worked localization on the game, subscribe to the theory it’s due to its publishing deal. The game had a weird deal where Nintendo published the original game outside of Japan while Square Enix published it within the country. Now, the deal is seemingly expiring or perhaps  and the Kingdom Hearts dev is the sole publisher.
