Off-duty police officer said man allegedly caught secretly recording naked teen admitted Bunbury offending

An off-duty police officer who was at the beach when a Bunbury Surf Life Saving Club youth development co-ordinator was allegedly caught using his phone to secretly record a teenage girl changing out of her bikini in a beachside toilet block said the man admitted to the incident.

Sen. Const. Gary Carthew gave evidence in the trial of Phillip Anthony Best, 60, who has pleaded not guilty to one count of indecently recording a child over 13 but under 16. The Bunbury District Court trial began on Monday, with Sen. Const Carthew saying on that day, October 8 2022, Mr Best told him “my life is over, my business is over and this is all for nothing”.
